Mid-Heat Range Products
If you are searching for a mid range product with low thermal expansion and the ability to with stand thermal shock, then Petalite, Calcined Petalite or Cordierite may be the solution. Both grades of minerals have the ability provide good dimensional stability due to their low thermal expasion, they are stable to temperatures in excess of 1300°C. These products are commonly used in refractory/sagger applications to increase life cyclesas well as shorten kiln cycles.
Molochite – Calcined Kaolin
An alumino silicate refractory which is the standard for investment casting shell moulds. With a calcined Mullite conversion of about 90%, Molochite is unrivaled by other calcined kaolins. You will not find a grog with similar Mullite conversion or purity. Hammill & Gillespie introduced Molochite to the US market over 60 years ago.
